With the announcement of Top 100 Universities in India to start online courses from May 30, 2020 by Honourable Finance Minister of India Smt Nirmala Sitharaman says “Online Education is being taken up in a big way . Another 12 channels will be added . It will be a great help to students in rural areas .Children love technology and adapt quickly. 200 new textbooks being added to e-pathashala .
This appears to be a pretty big step.
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE IMPLICATIONS ?
Will students prefer the same course offered by the same university in online mode vs on-campus offering? Will it push more students who could not otherwise complete their formal education, take up such courses from top universities while they are employed at the same time?
How will corporates view these online offering vs. a vs. same course offered on the campus by the same university? Will the universities differentiate their degree certificate? Or it will be the same degree whether you do online or on campus?
How do you see the online higher education ecosystem evolving? Will it lead to universities competing with ed-tech companies or collaborating more with them?
